Biodiversity
Teachers' notes
Biodiversity, “the very stuff of life”, means the whole variety of life on Earth. It encompasses all living things, from human beings to micro-organisms, not just species which are rare or threatened. Understanding the importance of biodiversity for life processes can help show us the need to protect and enhance our environment’s diverse range of plants, birds, animals and the habitats upon which they rely.
Biodiversity is a core environmental topic in the Eco Schools Scotland programme.

Biodiversity Posters & Teacher's Notes
These posters have been produced by SNH in partnership with RSPB. The set of six posters and accompanying teacher's notes illustrate how important biodiversity is to everyone in Scotland, and show how everyone can help to conserve it. The posters provide images and text to encourage students to explore the importance of biodiversity in both our quality of life and our standard of living. The teacher's notes give additional information and advice on using the posters and also include project ideas.
