SNH submits application for the GfCI to the New Opportunities Fund Green Spaces and Sustainable Communities theme.

  New Opportunities Fund awards SNH £1.035 million for 2002 – 2005.

July 2001

Local authorities in Glasgow and Clyde Valley agree to participate in the GfCI via a new Glasgow and Clyde Valley Greenspace Trust.

Sept 2001

Business case for the GfCI submitted to Scottish Executive.

 Nov 2001

SNH secures approval from the Scottish Executive for expenditure of £2.4 million over 5 years to establish and develop the GfCI.

March 2002

Glasgow and Clyde Valley Greenspace Trust incorporated.

June 2002

Glasgow and Clyde Valley Greenspace Trust launched.

June 2002

Edinburgh Green Belt Trust, Central Scotland Forest Trust, Aberdeen Countryside Project and Glasgow & Clyde Valley Greenspace Trust agreed to become founder members of Greenspace Scotland.

August 2002

Greenspace Scotland incorporated.

Dec 2002

Greenspace Scotland first board meeting.

Jan 2003

 Fife Coast and Countryside Trust joins Greenspace Scotland.

Greenspace Scotland launched and Strategy published.
